Dear Rockwall County Democrats,
In my first 90 days as your County Chair, I have spent time making changes, learning more and more about the Democratic Process and in general getting a feel for just how much work this job entails. I believe that you will find I am a person who is always learning more and thinking about ways to improve that which I am involved with.
In my first 90 days, I have attended many other Democratic clubs and Executive Committee meetings, always with an eye open to new ideas for our organization. I have attended many committee meetings and democratic trainings - all in the hope that I can bring the knowledge gleaned back home to Rockwall County and use it to make the Rockwall County Democratic Party a stronger, more organized voice for Democratic Change - not only for Rockwall County, but also for North Texas and Texas as a whole.
Our Executive Committee has already made great steps toward improving our organization by deciding to hold regular monthly meetings. It has been recognized by our leadership that Change cannot be made if our leaders are not committed to the process. I look forward to a more participatory Executive Committee and encourage all of our general members to get to know your Precinct Chair. I hope all members of the Rockwall County Democratic Party know their voices are being heard and that happens by making sure they are represented on the Executive Committee by their Precinct Chair. Remember, Precinct Chairs are your elected representative, and you are their constituent - using that relationship will make our Party stronger.
Our Executive Committee has also asked for an Organizational Plan to be presented to our general membership in hopes that we may be able to better demonstrate to all Rockwall County Democrats what we are working toward as we make changes and move RCDP forward. This letter is the first step toward that goal. It is my hope to spend the next two months working closely with the Executive Committee, along with the Constitution and Bylaws Committee, perfecting that plan. My goal for the Party is to organize ourselves in a way that inspires all Democrats in Rockwall County to be active members. With an active, organized leadership, the Rockwall County Democratic Party will be in a better position to promise potential Democratic candidates the support they will need from the RCDP as they run for office in Rockwall County. With Democratic candidates on the ballot, we will be able to encourage more Democratic voters to get out and vote as well as to join the Party and get involved and active. With more Democrats mobilized in Rockwall County, we will be in a better position to ask for assistance from the Texas Democratic Party which will in turn make all of our efforts easier. We cannot continue to sit idly by hoping a Democrat will run for office in Rockwall County and hoping the TDP might decide to throw some assistance our way. We must stand up, get organized and show Democrats across Texas that Rockwall County may be small, but our voices are loud and our members are proud and we are ready to do the work to turn Texas Blue!
It is my hope that my first 90 days is considered by you to have been productive. Rockwall County is already becoming known as a county with active Democrats. The days of walking into a room and having people respond with "There are Democrats in Rockwall??" are already beginning to be a thing of the past replaced by excited reactions recognizing that the hard working Rockwall Democrats are in the room and things will be getting done! I hope to continue the progress we are making into my next 90 days and beyond, but I know that it will only be possible with all of you by my side. So, please, stand and join me as I say "Rockwall County Democrats are ready to get organized and get to work!"
Thank you all for the work you have already done and I look forward with great excitement to all that we will accomplish in the future!
Your Proud County Chair,
Terri StClair
